Modernization of Teaching Methodologies In Higher Education: EU Experience For Jordan And Palestinian Territory (METHODS)

 

Main Goal

The main goal of METHODS project is to raise the competencies of individual learners to become active members of the knowledge society by enhancing the learning process of students and acquiring 21st Century competencies to become autonomous and active learners.

 

Executive Summary

The project aims at improving the quality of teaching and learning at the PC universities through incorporating technological tools in consistence with pedagogical best practices and by building the capacity of the universities to evaluate, develop and design e-curricula to be available on an open accessible portal. To achieve this objective, the project will support establishing a national Centre in both Jordan (in UJ) and Palestine (in BZU) to be as a hub for utilizing best practices in ICT in education in both PCs. These Centers will facilitate establishing diverse clusters (pool of staff members from target discipline in Engineering and science faculty with multimedia and educational specialists interested in a certain discipline) from PC universities where an educational specialists  will review the proposed learning material in order to ensure compatibility with the standards; and  multimedia designers who will design the interfaces, activities, presentation, layout and animation included in the e-curricula.​​​​​​

Development Of Environmental Engineering Courses And Injection Of Climate Change Concept For Undergraduate Curriculum (EGREEN)

 

The project aims to ensure that the universities in Jordan and Syria can offer a high quality education compatible with European standards and meets the market needs of the emerging knowledge-based society by modernising their ‘environment’ curricula, developing and implementing a sustainable bachelor degree programme. Also, EGREEN aims to introduce the concept of climate change in order to graduate professional leaders who can meet market needs of the country as well as it will Develop and integrate a bachelor degree program with an appropriate laboratory component in environment jointly taught by universities in Jordan and Syria and brought into line with the Bologna requirements.

 

EGREEN Objectives:

  • Develop, integrate, accredit and evaluate some courses at a bachelor degree program with an appropriate laboratory component in environment jointly taught by universities in Jordan and Syria and brought into line with the Bologna requirements.
  • Engage faculty in the development of interactive instruction techniques for lectures and laboratory courses and sharing experiences with EU partner universities.
  • Develop and implement course content using distance learning.
  • Extend services and training in collaboration with the local and regional industry and community.
  • Improve the human capacity of Jordanian, syrian universities by providing training and upgrading opportunities in the EU for aspiring young and women academic members of staff.

  • To improve the capacities of 6 Jordanian and 3 Syrian Universities on Environment and Climatic Change,
  • Train new experts prepared for the labour market.
